China Golden Week 2026: Only Three Working Days Separate the Autumn Holidays

The official 2026 China holiday calendar has an awkward little detail for overseas buyers.

The Mid-Autumn Festival break runs September 25–27. National Day Golden Week runs October 1–7. That leaves September 28, 29 and 30 — just three ordinary working days between the two holidays.

Three days is enough to answer an email. It is not a sensible plan for finishing a handmade order, checking it, packing it and getting it into an international network.

What the calendar does not tell you

The State Council notice confirms the national dates. It does not promise that every workshop, seller, warehouse or driver will keep the same closure schedule. Some teams may use annual leave to connect the two breaks; others may return on paper before the backlog has returned to normal.

So a supplier saying “we reopen on October 8” is useful, but incomplete. Buyers should also ask when the item will be ready, when QC can happen, and when the packed parcel can actually be handed over.

Why September 9 matters

Today leaves 16 calendar days before the first break begins.

For stock-one pieces, confirm the exact unit now. For custom Chinese craftsmanship, confirm the design before production starts. For handmade Christmas gifts, leave room for photo QC and repacking instead of treating the courier estimate like a Christmas wish.
