A Gongfu tea tray plus a small teapot set is one of those pieces that stays on the table: slow brew, friends over, weekend ritual. From Huizhou & Shenzhen, here’s what we tell overseas buyers before we buy teaware on their behalf.
What “Gongfu tea ware” usually includes
Depending on the listing, you may get:
- A bamboo or wood tea tray (茶盘) with drainage
- A small teapot (zisha-style clay or porcelain)
- Fair cups / tasting cups
- A strainer, tea tools, or nothing extra
Always confirm what’s in the box. Marketplace photos often show a full set; the SKU may be tray-only.
Four checks before you pay
1. Size that fits your counter — bamboo trays often look smaller in photos than they are on a desk. 2. Material honesty — “zisha-style” is not the same as claiming antique Yixing. Celadon glaze variation is normal on handmade pieces. 3. One-of-a-kind vs reorderable — some cups are 孤品 (one unique piece). Fine for a gift; risky if you need matching sets for a brand launch. 4. Landed quote, not just factory unit price — product + international shipping + service, in plain English.
