The Parcel Is Still in China. Stop Treating Chat Screenshots as the Record

Chat apps are great at two things: speed, and losing the one photo you actually needed.

You know the pattern. Seller sends a blurry close-up. You say “looks fine.” Three weeks later the clasp is a different shape and both of you are scrolling like detectives. Someone cropped a screenshot. Someone else does not remember that message. The thread has moved on to dinner plans.

That is not pre-ship confirmation. That is folklore.

Remote buying from China is fine. The fight usually starts after the box has already left Guangdong. Once it is on a plane, you are not arguing about a necklace. You are arguing about memory.

The cleaner version

Write the specs in plain language. Photograph the actual piece. Whole item, scale, clasp, any scratch that already exists. Keep the originals. Hash them. Send the buyer one link. They Confirm. Then you tape the box.

Proof is built for that moment. Terms plus photos, both sides Confirm. You get a read-only page and a PDF. Capture time is whatever the phone reports. It is not a notary, not a court stamp, not a magic clock. If someone later swaps a file, the hash will not match. If nobody confirmed, you still only have a chat thread.
