The Human Candle Short Film: Fake Temple Story, Real Custom-Chain Lesson
October 23, 2026 · YueFetch
The Human Candle is a vertical short, about 3 minutes 56 seconds, with English and Chinese subtitles. I adapted it from Kozakai Fuboku (小酒井不木), the mystery usually called the human-oil candle. Temple. Storm. One candle. One confession that should get someone arrested, if any of it were true.
The title sounds like a haunted souvenir counter. I am not selling haunted souvenirs.
Spoiler, because the spoiler is the buying lesson: most of it is not true.
Story in one coffee
Faxin, a young monk, hates the storm. The master tells him to patrol the hall anyway. They walk in with a lantern. A candle is burning in front of the Buddha.
The master kneels and says he has to confess. He loves the smell of a body when it burns. He poisoned the last novice, Ryojun. He made candles from human fat, and this is the last one. When the flame dies, Faxin is next.
Faxin panics. The master offers a way out: kill a stand-in. Someone is hiding behind the Buddha, a thief who stole the offerings. Faxin raises something shiny. The thief bolts into the rain.
Then the twist, said on screen:
- Not a knife. A fan.
- Not human fat. A normal candle from a shop.
- Ryojun was not murdered. He died of illness. The master says he did not kill anyone.
- The speech was made up that night to frighten the thief. The master had read the Blue Hood story in *Ugetsu Monogatari*.
The thief believed a story he could not check. He ran. That is the joke. That is also how a bad custom order starts.
The inbox version of the confession
I quote custom chains from Guangdong. Cuban links, tennis lines, a different length, a different clasp. The millimeters decide whether it fits or becomes a drawer object.
The temple version of a bad buy is "trust the confession." The inbox version is "same as the photo," with no size, no split quote, and no second look at the piece in your hand.
The film says this at the end. If someone only says same as the photo, that is not enough. Ask size and quote before you buy. When you hand the piece over, one photo and their confirm.
Ask size, then read the three lines
Open Custom Source. Send the length in centimeters, or your wrist and how much slack you want, plus a photo of a chain you already wear next to a ruler. "A bit longer" is how the wrong piece gets packed. Name the clasp, the finish, and the destination country.
I reply with three lines: the product, international shipping after the carton is weighed, and the service fee. On business days that is usually within 24 hours. Hours are Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 21:00 GMT+8. You pay that quote before I buy. PayPal to hello@yuefetch.com, a Payoneer Request a Payment, or a card. Then a freight forwarder in Huizhou or Shenzhen ships with tracking. After dispatch, many countries take about 7 to 15 business days. That window is typical. Customs can sit longer. I do not run a warehouse.
Scary monologues are free. A wrong wrist size is not.
If the listed length is already right, you may not need a custom job. How I measure is in Cuban link bracelet sizing and custom Cuban bracelet. Gold tone, when the quote does not say solid gold, is plating.
The handoff
Chat is where we agree the centimeters. It is a bad filing cabinet. Proof is the separate record: you write the specs, the photos are stored with a SHA-256 hash, both sides Confirm, and you get one /p link. Free is 3 packets a month. Pro is $24 a month. Capture time is whatever the phone reports. A hash shows the file did not change after it was stored. It does not prove a stranger took the photo, and it is not notarization. It is not the YueFetch checkout.
The end card is the short version. Next handoff: one photo, their confirm.

Before you order a custom necklace, ask size and get the quote on YueFetch. When you hand it over, photo plus Confirm on Proof.
Less incense. More millimeters.
The limit
A short about a fake confession does not turn plating into gold, and it does not size your wrist. If the quote does not say solid gold, it is not solid gold. If your country charges import duty, you pay it. I do not fold duty into the service fee.
